Emotionally Focused Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a therapy modality created and tested by Sue Johnson as a way to help couples reconnect. Summerlin Therapy & Couples Counseling uses this approach to help couples who may have lost sight of that connection come back together and grow in new and more intimate ways.

One goal of EFT is to change the dialog from questions such as “why do you have to be on your phone all the time!?” to statements such as “I feel really disconnected from you when you are on your phone around me, which can make me feel lonely and unimportant”. Once we really understand how are loved one is hurting, we can take steps to rebuild intimacy and trust.

Communicating about how we feel instead of hiding behind the protection of blame & criticism can be tough. The mission of EFT is to help you see the power of vulnerability, and get back that connection that every human secretly, or blatantly, desires.
